I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2015 and will celebrate my 5th birthday following my bone marrow transplant this July.
I would encourage anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer to participate in the Healing Arts Program at Levine Cancer Institute in some capacity. I personally joined the knitting group and met some amazing women. They understand what I was going through, were my cheerleaders when I needed them to be and have become my friends for life. Even though each patient’s journey is different, there are enough similarities to share with each other.
Creating something when you are not fully in control of your health/life gives you a sense of control and “normalness.”
